The buyout team seeking to take TXU private has set up a website to discuss its approach to operating TXU, if the acquisition goes through. The website is called texasenergyfuture.com.
The website discusses the transaction, price cuts for electricity, meeting energy demans through new technology, the new corporate environmental focus, among other things. A review of the website is worth the effort to understand the public approach being taken by the buyout group. Certainly, they have brought some heavy hitters to advise the company and sit on the board of directors.
Former Secretary of State James Baker will serve as an advisor to the investors. Donald L. Evans, former U.S. Secretary of Commerce; James R. Huffines, Chairman of the University of Texas Board of Regents; and Lyndon L. Olson Jr., former Texas State Representative and former U.S. Ambassador to Sweden will join the board of directors.
On the environmental front. William Riley, former EPA Administrator and Chairman Emeritus of the World Wildlife Fund, will join the board of directors of TXU and lead the company’s climate change efforts of the utility.
